This winter in and around Hondo there are fun events for you, and your friends and family to enjoy. Let’s look at a handful sure to brighten any winter weekend.
On January 22nd, from 8 AM to 1 PM at the South Texas Regional Airport in Hondo, everyone – including families – is welcome to attend the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) model and high-powered rocket launch. Rockets and motors will be available on site.
The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Motorcycle Rally is the 45th annual event held every February by the Alamo City Chapter of the Gypsy MC since 1977. Funds from the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre rally go to support Equessense, a charity that provides therapeutic horsemanship. This year it takes place February 4th through 6th, at Hondo City Park, Medina County Fairgrounds. Event pre-registration runs through January 22nd. Admission for kids 12 and under is free, as is tent camping. There will be live music, a fun run, field events, contests, hot showers, and Sunday morning church services.
Let’s Paint Y’all Valentine’s Paint Night for Couples at the Medina River Winery is scheduled for February 12th from 6 PM to 8 PM. Grab your sweetheart and paint a Western sunset while enjoying some great local wines. No artistic skills are required as step-by-step instruction will be provided.
Since 1949, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious single events in San Antonio, with approximately 1.5 million visitors each year. Events run into February, including the Western Heritage Parade on February 5th. The rodeo and competitive events are complemented by big name musical acts like Toby Keith and Tanya Tucker.
