What I’ve Learned About the Best Ford Cars for Commuting - From Your Service Director

As the Service Director here at Cecil Atkission Ford with over 10 years of experience serving families and businesses around Hondo, TX, I understand how important it is to find a vehicle that fits your daily driving needs. Whether you’re commuting from Pearsall, Floresville, or even Kerrville, the right Ford can make all the difference in comfort, fuel efficiency, and reliability. Let me share what I’ve seen firsthand about the best Ford cars for commuting and how they stack up for everyday use. more When you’re thinking about a commuting vehicle, fuel economy and dependability typically come first. From my experience, the Ford lineup offers some excellent options that balance these well, especially for folks who drive regularly between towns like Valdina Farms and Boerne. The most fuel-efficient Ford models for commuting today are hybrids and electrified vehicles. Take the Ford Maverick Hybrid, for example. It’s a compact truck that delivers around 42 miles per gallon in city driving and about 33 mpg on the highway, which is impressive for a pickup. Its hybrid powertrain makes it a practical choice not only for those who need a truck bed for work in places like Lakehills but also for daily drives where every gallon counts. Another standout is the Ford Escape, particularly the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The Escape Hybrid frequently achieves about 44 mpg in the city and 37 on highways, making it an exceptional option for those commuting through more urban areas like Uvalde or Alamo Ranch. Plus, if your commute is mostly within 30 to 37 miles, the Escape Plug-In Hybrid lets you run on electric power alone, cutting fuel costs significantly. You can check out our current lineup of these models by browsing our All New Vehicles here at Cecil Atkission Ford, conveniently located at 109 19th St, Hondo, TX 78861 or by calling us at (830) 426-5391. Now, when it comes to zero gasoline operation, Ford’s all-electric Mustang Mach-E stands out. It offers a driving range well-suited for longer commutes across distances you might cover driving from Lytle to Boerne or even Kerrville. With mid-200 to low-300 miles of range depending on the battery and drivetrain you choose, this SUV combines the utility and comfort of a Ford with the cost savings of electric driving. The F-150 Lightning, an electric version of Ford’s iconic pickup, is also a solid choice for drivers who require a blend of work capability and electric efficiency. It’s worth noting that alongside these vehicles, you can keep your Ford running smooth by ordering authentic parts directly through our Parts Department, ensuring quality and longevity even with daily use. Many customers also ask me about the best Ford for daily drives that aren’t necessarily long commutes but require comfort and reliability around town or on weekend errands in and around places like Batesville and Utopia. The Ford Edge and Escape come up often in these conversations. The Edge offers more passenger and cargo space, making it perfect for families or those needing room for gear on weekend trips. It features a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and even a sporty ST trim for those who want more straight-line performance. However, it is larger and less fuel-efficient than the Escape, which is a more compact crossover ideal for tight city streets and daily fuel savings. The Escape’s hybrid trims especially shine here with their excellent mileage and affordable pricing. For customers in Alamo Ranch and surrounding areas who want a balance of tech features, ease of parking, and fuel-efficient fuel costs, the Escape is often the better fit. If you want to explore these models further, our New Ford SUVs inventory is regularly updated, and we even offer a great selection of pre-owned vehicles for those looking to keep their budgets in check. Check out our All Pre-Owned Inventory to find certified pre-owned options that have been inspected to meet high standards. One thing I always tell customers is that the best car for commuting isn’t just about numbers or specs — it’s about how the vehicle fits your lifestyle. If your daily drive takes you through hilly or mixed terrain outside Pearsall, you might value a truck or SUV with all-wheel drive and robust towing capability. In that case, the Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid could be worth a look. It delivers about 25 mpg combined, a respectable figure for a full-size truck, and lets you handle weekend hauling or work projects without sacrificing too much fuel economy. Our New Ford F-150 Inventory showcases these trucks in several trims and configurations. At Cecil Atkission Ford, we pride ourselves on not only helping you find the right vehicle but also supporting you long after the sale with top-notch service and resources. If you have questions about maintaining your Ford during heavy commuting seasons or need to schedule a service, our Service Appointment Scheduler is available to get you in quickly. Plus, we offer ongoing specials through our Service & Parts Specials to help keep service costs manageable. Reliability is another cornerstone of the Ford brand. From my experience, the Ford F-150, Escape, and Mustang models consistently earn high marks for toughness and dependability. Many customers from Uvalde to Boerne find peace of mind knowing their Ford is built to endure high mileage and daily demands. If you want to dive deeper into warranty details and owner benefits, the Ford Owner Benefits page on our site has extensive information that highlights the support Ford provides. And for those concerned about making the right choice, we offer the 3-Day Love It or Exchange It Program* —a unique offering that gives you extra confidence by allowing a hassle-free exchange within three days if the vehicle doesn’t meet your expectations. We stand by our commitment to customer satisfaction and community involvement, values that resonate deeply with the folks we serve from Hondo to Lakehills. Learn more about our commitment by visiting our Community Commitment page. Finally, if you prefer to manage your vehicle remotely, the Ford App provides convenient tools like remote start, vehicle health alerts, and roadside assistance requests—all designed to make your commute smoother and safer. Whether you’re navigating through Alamo Ranch traffic or cruising the highways around Hondo, we’re here to make sure you get a vehicle that suits your needs perfectly. The Purpose and Benefits of BlueCruise Understanding why BlueCruise was developed and how it enhances safety and driver comfort on highways and local roads. Cost and Subscription Options for BlueCruise Detailed explanation of BlueCruise’s pricing structure, subscription plans, and trial offers for Texas drivers. Comparing BlueCruise and Super Cruise: Which Hands-Free System is Best? An honest comparison between Ford’s BlueCruise and GM’s Super Cruise driver-assist systems, highlighting key differences and strengths. Discover BlueCruise at Cecil Atkission Ford How to experience BlueCruise technology, find the right vehicle, and access expert services in Hondo and surrounding areas. BlueCruise Features: Hands-Free Driving and Advanced Assistance Ford BlueCruise is built to transform the way drivers experience highway travel across Texas, from the open stretches near Uvalde to the bustling routes around Alamo Ranch. This technology offers a comprehensive hands-free driving system that blends sophisticated sensors, radar, cameras, and detailed mapping data to provide a safe and intuitive driving aid. One of BlueCruise’s standout features is its ability to maintain lane positioning and speed without requiring constant driver input. Unlike traditional cruise control, BlueCruise uses adaptive cruise control combined with lane centering to keep the vehicle steady in its lane, adjusting speed according to traffic conditions. The system activates only on pre-qualified divided highways, known as "Blue Zones," which are carefully mapped for safety and accuracy. Beyond just hands-free steering, BlueCruise offers Lane Change Assist, allowing drivers to initiate lane changes by simply tapping the turn signal. This smart feature reduces the workload on longer drives through places like Valdina Farms and Lytle, where highway traffic can get dense. Further enhancing convenience, the latest BlueCruise update (version 1.5) includes an Automatic Lane Change function, enabling the vehicle to change lanes hands-free once the driver signals, creating a smooth and confident driving rhythm. Driver safety remains paramount with BlueCruise’s integrated driver-facing camera system. This setup monitors the driver’s attention and ensures eyes remain on the road, issuing alerts if distraction is detected. This attentive monitoring helps maintain control on highways around Batesville or Pearsall, supporting safer driving habits in all conditions. Lastly, BlueCruise continually evolves through over-the-air software updates, allowing owners near Utopia and Kerrville to benefit from the newest features without needing a dealership visit. This dynamic development ensures your vehicle’s hands-free system stays at the forefront of technology and safety. The Purpose and Benefits of BlueCruise BlueCruise was designed with the simple goal of making driving less stressful and more enjoyable, especially on lengthy highway trips or during daily commutes in areas like Boerne or Floresville. By allowing hands-free operation in designated zones, it reduces driver fatigue, making long drives safer and more comfortable. At its core, BlueCruise assists by taking over routine steering and speed adjustments while keeping the driver actively engaged through attentive monitoring. This balance preserves driver responsibility while offering the relief of hands-free control, crucial for navigating the winding roads around Lakehills or the busy highways near Alamo Ranch. The system’s intelligent design anticipates the driver’s needs and supports safe vehicle operation without removing the driver from the equation. The technology is particularly valuable in Texas’s diverse driving environments, where highway conditions can change rapidly and driver focus is critical. For example, when traveling between Uvalde and Pearsall, BlueCruise helps maintain consistent spacing from other vehicles and precise lane positioning, which can reduce accidents caused by distraction or fatigue. Moreover, Ford’s commitment to continuous improvement means BlueCruise expands beyond highway use. Recent updates allow for hands-on lane centering on certain local roads, offering a glimpse at the future of driver assistance and making everyday driving in communities like Lytle and Valdina Farms easier and safer. For families and small business owners who frequently travel these routes, BlueCruise represents not just convenience but a smart investment in safety and peace of mind. Coupled with Ford’s trusted reputation for rugged American-built vehicles, this technology reflects Ford’s dedication to enhancing both driver and community well-being. Cost and Subscription Options for BlueCruise Understanding the costs associated with BlueCruise is essential for Texas drivers considering this technology. As of October 1, 2024, Ford has simplified and lowered BlueCruise subscription prices to make hands-free driving more accessible across communities including Hondo, Kerrville, and Utopia. BlueCruise is available as a subscription service starting at contact us for current subscription pricing or contact us for current subscription pricing. This pricing represents a significant reduction from earlier rates of contact us for current subscription pricing or contact us for current subscription pricing, reflecting Ford’s commitment to value and customer satisfaction. New vehicle owners receive a 90-day complimentary trial starting with their vehicle warranty date, providing ample time to experience BlueCruise’s benefits risk-free. For those who prefer long-term ownership without recurring fees, Ford also offers a one-time purchase option with pricing available upon request. This upfront payment grants access to BlueCruise features for a minimum of seven years, a great choice for drivers who frequently travel between Floresville, Boerne, or surrounding areas and want continuous hands-free driving without subscription concerns. Customers purchasing a new Ford with BlueCruise-equipped models—like the F-150, Mustang Mach-E, or Explorer—can add the subscription at purchase or later through the dealership. Financing options even allow the inclusion of BlueCruise costs in vehicle payments, simplifying the process for small business owners in Kerrville or residents of Valdina Farms. The flexibility of monthly and annual plans suits various driving habits. For instance, a driver commuting near Alamo Ranch might activate BlueCruise only during peak highway travel times, while a family taking a road trip from Hondo to Uvalde might prefer the annual plan for uninterrupted access. To explore BlueCruise-equipped vehicles or learn more about pricing and plans, visit our All New Vehicles inventory or speak directly with our knowledgeable Expert Staff at Cecil Atkission Ford. Comparing BlueCruise and Super Cruise: Which Hands-Free System is Best? When considering hands-free driving technologies, many Texas drivers wonder how Ford’s BlueCruise stacks up against GM’s Super Cruise. While both systems enable hands-free operation on mapped highways, they differ in coverage, features, and technology implementation. Super Cruise boasts a larger mapped network, covering over 750,000 miles of roads, compared to BlueCruise’s approximately 130,000 miles. This difference means that Super Cruise users, often in areas with dense highway systems, have more extensive hands-free driving opportunities. However, BlueCruise maintains an advantage in accessibility, being available on a broader range of Ford vehicles, including popular models like the F-150 and Mustang Mach-E, which are widely found across Texas towns such as Uvalde and Pearsall. Technologically, Super Cruise relies on high-definition lidar-based mapping combined with advanced radar and cameras, offering precise lane guidance and enhanced automatic lane changes—even when towing heavy loads. BlueCruise, in contrast, utilizes radar and camera systems that have been significantly improved in recent updates (notably version 1.5), introducing automatic lane changes and better in-lane stability. However, BlueCruise does not yet support hands-free driving while towing. Safety features also differ. Super Cruise incorporates a multi-stage driver attention system that escalates warnings and can safely bring the vehicle to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive. BlueCruise’s driver-facing camera similarly monitors driver alertness and provides warnings but does not include automated vehicle stopping. Despite these distinctions, BlueCruise shines in everyday usability with an intuitive interface, compatibility with sunglasses, and hands-on lane centering on some local roads. For drivers around Batesville or Lakehills, this flexibility can be a decisive advantage. Ford continuously enhances BlueCruise’s capabilities through over-the-air updates, closing the gap with Super Cruise and ensuring drivers in Texas can enjoy a modern, reliable hands-free driving experience tailored to their needs. The Ford Bronco Revival: A Unique Classic Reborn The Ford Bronco’s story began in 1966, when it entered the market as a compact, rugged 4x4, designed for both daily driving and off-road thrills. Its original competitors were limited to models like the Jeep CJ and International Harvester Scout, but the Bronco quickly became a favorite for Texans who appreciated its blend of toughness and maneuverability. Fast forward to today, and the Bronco re-emerges as a sixth-generation icon, now available in two-door and four-door configurations, thoughtfully designed to meet modern demands while preserving its adventurous spirit. Unlike many SUVs that have grown larger and more urban-focused, the Bronco maintains a commanding presence with its high ground clearance, wide stance, and off-road-focused features. The ability to remove doors and roofs echoes the freedom that outdoor enthusiasts from communities like Valdina Farms and Lytle, TX, cherish when exploring Texas hill country or rural backroads. What truly distinguishes this revival is the Bronco's commitment to offering options such as manual transmissions, a rarity in today’s market, preserving the driving purity sought after by many traditionalists. For those interested in discovering their perfect fit, Cecil Atkission Ford offers an easy way to browse our All New Vehicles, including the latest Bronco trims, ensuring you find a truck tailored to your lifestyle and needs. Current Popularity: Why Are Broncos So Popular Now? The renewed enthusiasm for the Bronco can be attributed to its unique positioning—a vehicle that combines classic off-road capabilities with modern technology and customization. As SUVs dominate the automotive landscape, the Bronco has carved out a niche that appeals to those who refuse to compromise on ruggedness or authenticity. Buyers from towns like Boerne and Batesville appreciate how the Bronco’s GOAT (Goes Over Any Terrain) modes allow them to adapt to diverse terrains, from dusty trails to muddy creek crossings, with ease. One compelling factor driving the Bronco’s popularity is the availability of multiple powertrain options. The base 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine provides a solid 300 horsepower, while the optional 2.7L EcoBoost V6 boosts output to 330 horsepower, enough to conquer steep inclines or tow equipment for weekend adventures near Utopia or Kerrville. For those craving more power, the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 delivers an impressive 418 horsepower, proving that the Bronco doesn’t just look tough — it performs with authority. Additionally, the vehicle’s advanced off-road equipment, including front and rear locking differentials, sway bar disconnect, and 35-inch tires, make it a favorite among Texans who want to explore beyond paved roads. The Bronco’s water-fording capability of over 33 inches and ground clearance exceeding 11 inches provide confidence when negotiating challenging landscapes, a feature highly valued by drivers from Alamo Ranch and Pearsall. For those needing accessories or replacement parts to enhance their Bronco’s capabilities, Cecil Atkission Ford’s Order Parts department is stocked with OEM components ensuring reliability and durability on every trip. Who Is the Ford Bronco Designed For? The Ford Bronco appeals to a diverse group of drivers, but its core audience consists primarily of off-road enthusiasts, outdoor explorers, and families who enjoy an active lifestyle. Those in communities such as Floresville, TX, and Lakehills, TX, often seek a vehicle that can seamlessly transition from daily errands to weekend excursions in rugged terrain. The two-door Bronco is popular among purists who value the traditional, minimalist approach to off-roading. It offers nimble handling and a compact footprint that makes trail navigation more manageable. Meanwhile, the four-door model attracts families and groups who need additional passenger space without sacrificing capability. This versatility suits buyers in urban-adjacent areas like Hondo and Lytle, where a vehicle must perform well both on city streets and gravel roads. The Bronco Sport, a smaller sibling sharing the Bronco name, targets drivers seeking a balance between city-friendly dimensions and light off-road ability. However, the full-size Bronco is unmatched in its class for serious off-road performance. At Cecil Atkission Ford, our Our Expert Staff are ready to guide you through the features best suited to your lifestyle, ensuring your new Bronco meets all your expectations. Is the Bronco Outselling the Jeep Wrangler? While the Jeep Wrangler has long been the leader in the off-road SUV segment, recent sales data shows the Ford Bronco is rapidly closing the gap. During the first three quarters of 2025, Jeep Wrangler sales totaled 128,054 units, while the Bronco moved 109,921 models. This difference of just over 18,000 vehicles speaks volumes about the Bronco’s growing appeal. The Bronco’s competitive edge lies in its blend of modern technology and customizable off-road packages, such as the Sasquatch package, which offers enhanced suspension, tires, and terrain management. This appeals to Texans from Uvalde to Boerne seeking a vehicle that can handle both rugged trails and everyday driving with confidence. Moreover, the Bronco’s availability of manual transmissions and removable roof and doors offers a level of freedom that Jeep enthusiasts have long cherished but now find a worthy competitor in Ford’s offering. This has led to a surge in Bronco fan communities, off-road events, and social gatherings that celebrate the vehicle’s unique capabilities and Texas heritage. What Distinguishes the Ford Bronco? Technical excellence is at the heart of the Bronco’s appeal. With its advanced terrain management system, the driver can select from multiple GOAT modes tailored for sand, mud, rock crawling, and more, making it adaptable to the diverse environments found around Kerrville and Valdina Farms. The available Trail Turn Assist enhances maneuverability on tight trails by reducing front-wheel scrub, a feature not commonly found in competing models. Powertrain options are robust, offering turbocharged engines that balance fuel efficiency with performance. The 7-speed manual transmission with a crawl gear appeals to purists who want full control, while the 10-speed automatic caters to those who prefer convenience without sacrificing capability. The Bronco also includes modern comforts such as Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system, smartphone integration, and a suite of driver assistance technologies. Interior options range from durable rubberized flooring and marine-grade vinyl seats to premium finishes for those who want a refined cabin experience without losing ruggedness. For Texans who want to accessorize their Bronco for work or play, Cecil Atkission Ford’s New Ford Heavy Duty Trucks and New Ford Trucks inventory provide complementary options for towing and hauling alongside the Bronco. This service has grown in popularity, particularly in Texas towns like Alamo Ranch, Utopia, and Boerne, where residents prefer the ease of having vehicles brought directly to them. Home delivery is not just a convenience; it also represents a shift in how dealerships build lasting relationships with customers. By delivering vehicles to your doorstep, we reduce the time you spend at our dealership and allow you to focus on the joys of ownership. Typical Delivery Timeframes for Dealership Vehicles Understanding delivery timelines is key to setting realistic expectations. Delivery periods can vary widely based on several factors, including whether the vehicle is in stock, the distance between the dealership and your home, and whether the vehicle is a factory order or a dealer-supplied model. Here’s what you need to know about delivery timing: In-Stock Vehicles: If the vehicle you want is available on our lot in Hondo, TX, delivery can often be arranged within 1 to 3 business days. This quick turnaround is possible for customers in nearby cities such as Floresville and Valdina Farms. Factory Orders: Custom-ordered vehicles generally take longer, ranging from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the manufacturer’s production schedule and shipping logistics. This is common for specialized trims or options, like those on our heavy-duty trucks lineup found at New Ford Heavy Duty Trucks. Shipping Distance: Delivery time also depends on your location. For example, customers in Uvalde or Kerrville may experience slightly longer delivery windows due to distance compared to those in Hondo or Alamo Ranch. Transport Method: Open carrier transport is the standard for vehicle delivery, balancing speed and cost. Enclosed carriers are available for premium or classic vehicles but require more lead time and expense. Our team communicates proactively about delivery status and updates, ensuring you’re informed every step of the way. What Does It Cost to Have a Car Delivered to Your House? Home delivery fees vary based on distance, vehicle type, and delivery method. While Cecil Atkission Ford offers free delivery in the state of Texas, here is a breakdown of what influences are saying about other dealerships: Distance: Deliveries within the immediate Hondo area are typically more affordable, while trips extending to surrounding towns like Boerne or Utopia incur higher fees proportional to miles traveled. Vehicle Size and Type: Larger vehicles such as Ford F-150s or Super Duty trucks require specialized carriers, which can affect cost. Smaller sedans or SUVs generally cost less to deliver. Delivery Speed: Expedited or guaranteed delivery options may increase fees but reduce waiting times. Seasonal Demand: Busy periods can influence pricing due to carrier availability. Typical delivery costs for regional trips range from $150 to $600, with longer hauls averaging higher. Our dealership team walks you through the entire process and delivers the meaning of the Cecil Advantage to all of our owners. Cecil Atkission Ford is Hondo’s Newest EV Dealer!

Cecil Atkission Ford is Hondo’s Newest EV Dealer!

Cecil Atkission Ford in Hondo is proud to announce that we are now certified to sell Ford Electric Vehicles! This has been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to share these amazing new vehicles with you. Read on to find out about the new EVs currently available from Ford, and how you can get your hands on one for a test drive! more Ford is All In on EVs The shift toward electric vehicles is happening fast and Ford is leading the charge with some amazing offerings, but this isn’t anything new. Ford looked at building EVs for the first time well over a hundred years ago, in 1914. Henry Ford himself was a big proponent of battery electric vehicles as they were simpler and easier to operate than gasoline or steam-powered vehicles of the time, but then as now, battery technology was a big stumbling block. The advent of advanced lithium battery technology has finally allowed EVs to enter the mainstream automotive market. Ford has two very impressive EVs available now or in the near future: The Mustang Mach-E, and the F-150 Lightning. Mustang Mach-E The Mustang is a storied nameplate among the Ford faithful, so the fact that Ford chose to adorn this EV with the Mustang moniker tells you how much faith they’re putting into it. The Mach-E is an SUV like no other. Though it comes complete with four doors and a rear liftgate, the performance numbers sound like a sports car: the Performance Edition of the Mach-E can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds! That’s faster than a base-spec Porsche 911, and a crazy number for a vehicle this size. Along with the whiplash acceleration comes over 300 miles of EPA-estimated range, the Ford CoPilot 360 safety suite, and Ford BlueCruise, which allows hands-free driving on many highways across the country. The Mach-E can do it all. F-150 Lightning The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the country for over forty years, and when you have a winning formula like this one, making a paradigm shift to electrification seems like killing the goose that laid the golden egg. That is, until you drive one. The reviews are nearly unequivocal: Ford knocked this one so cleanly out of the park that buyers are left wondering what took them so long to electrify the F-150. The launch version of the Lightning is only available in quad-cab with a six foot bed, but what it lacks in bed space it more than makes up for in utility and practicality. Features like multiple 120 volt outlets inside and out, an additional 14 cubic feet of storage space in the ‘frunk’, and the ability to charge other EVs from its own battery pack make this F-150 truly revolutionary. Add to that all time four-wheel drive, over 300 miles of EPA-estimated range and a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, and you’ll see that this is a vehicle built without compromise. Visit Cecil Hondo For a Test Drive! Interested in driving one of these dynamic EVs? So are we! Give us a call at 830-364-4193 or come down to Cecil Atkission Ford in Hondo to check for availability and schedule a test drive. We’re standing by to answer your questions and help get you on the road to electrification. You’ll see why when the product is the same, the dealer makes the difference!

Ford Celebrates 75 years of the F- Series with the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition!

Ford Celebrates 75 years of the F- Series with the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition!

Ford has been doing business for an awfully long time. The First Ford rolled out of the factory in 1903, and in the ensuing years, Ford has proven time and again their commitment to innovation, affordability, and competence, not just in their vehicles, but in everything they do, from the Model T to the five-day work week and the production line. It’s one of the reasons we’re proud to provide their vehicles to the Hill Country through Cecil Atkission Ford in Hondo. more So when the first Ford F-series truck rolled into the daylight nearly 75 years ago, it makes one wonder if the company knew what an impact the vehicle would have on the world. The Ford F-150 is the company’s best-selling vehicle for 35 years running and the America’s best-selling pickup truck for 40 solid years. That’s no accident. With the F-Series, Ford found the perfect mix of utility, practicality, versatility, and style. Since 1977, Ford has sold over 26 million Ford F-150s all over the world. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the F-Series, Ford is releasing a new-for 2023 version of the F-150, dubbed the Heritage Edition. This exclusive options package available on XLT-series trucks includes several exterior accents based on a classic two-tone paint scheme, with the roof and door pillars one color, the body another color, then the first color returning for the lower body, lower doors, and bumpers. The two-tone pattern recalls paint schemes from the 70s and 80s, but looks decidedly different on the modern F-150 with its aluminum body and wide stance. The package continues on the interior with special seat trim covers with unique inserts, a “75 Years” logo on the upper windshield and center console, and an embossed console cover. There are five color/trim combinations available, each with its own unique look: Race Red midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray Atlas Blue midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black Antimatter Blue midsection, with upper and lower Carbonized Gray Avalanche midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black Area 51 midsection, with upper and lower Agate Black Trust us when we say these modern paint colors look amazing in this two-tone style. With the Heritage Edition, you’re sure to stand out from the F-150 crowd. Interested in the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition? Cecil Hondo’s Favorite Summer Cool Down Spots

Cecil Hondo’s Favorite Summer Cool Down Spots

Summer in the Hill Country can be brutal, but we’re fortunate to be situated right on top of one of Texas’s greatest natural wonders: the Edwards Aquifer. As well as providing fresh water for many communities in Central Texas, this underground waterway makes its way to the surface through a series of springs all across the region. This means cold, clear spring water - perfect for a summer dip - can be found all over. Here are three of our favorite swimming spots around Hondo. more Utopia Park Lake Dam First on the list is Utopia Park Lake Dam. Just up the road in Utopia sits a small park on the Sabinal River with a dam, creating one of the best swimming holes in the region. The water is cold, clear, and deep, and the pool is wide and spacious, leaving plenty of room for swimming for several dozen visitors. The shore is just as inviting, with a large copse of live oak trees providing cool shade all day long. We like this spot for the amount of space it provides. There’s plenty of room for the family to spread out and explore, and the spring-fed Sabinal never disappoints on a hot summer day. Garner State Park Long a favorite of Central Texans, Garner State Park has been a prime swimming spot since 1941. Located between Concan and Leakey, Garner is situated on the Frio River, another cold spring-fed waterway that snakes its way through the Hill Country, and contains over 1,700 acres of preserved natural space along with 2.9 miles of the river. Garner is one of the most popular camping and recreational areas in the state and frequently fills up before noon, so make sure and head out early to get a prime spot! Concan Just south of Garner State Park is a true hidden gem of a Hill Country destination, Concan. There isn’t much to this tiny town, just a general store and several riverside cabins, but what it lacks in infrastructure, it makes up for in natural beauty and prime swimming spots. Just next to Highway 127 is one of the best, if not THE best, swimming pools in the state, the Concan Swimming Hole. Fed by the ice-cold Frio, this swimming hole has it all: clear, cold water, a deep bottom, rope swings, and a large boulder jutting out from the center of the pool, creating a perfect diving spot. The hole shrinks during dry spells, so make sure and check to see if it's open before heading out for a swim. Make Cecil Hondo Your First Stop If you need a car, truck, or SUV to carry friends and family to summer fun, make Cecil Atkission Ford in Hondo your first destination. We have the vehicle you need to stay safe and comfortable on our Hill Country highways, no matter where you go for a cool down. Visit us at 109 19th St in the center of Hondo, or online at CecilHondo.com. You’ll see that when the products are similar, the dealer makes the difference!

We’ve done the hard work of figuring out which local BBQ spots are hot and which are not, so read on to find out more. Just make sure you don’t get any sauce on the seats of your brand new Ford from Cecil Atkission! more Heavy’s BBQ First on the list is Heavy’s BBQ, located just off Highway 90, right in the middle of Hondo. This family-owned and operated restaurant serves up award-winning BBQ with a smile. Their selection of smoked meaty goodness will keep you coming back again and again. The menu includes the standards: brisket, sausage, ribs, turkey, chopped beef, and chicken, along with all the sides we love like cole slaw, beans, and potato salad. Along with the tried and true offerings, they put their own twist on their menu with specials like Frito Pie, the Heavy D (chunked brisket with sausage topped with beans and sauce, it’s as great as it sounds!) Loaded Mac and Cheese, and Loaded Baked Potatoes. Don’t miss the green beans or creamed corn either! The Peach Cobbler will easily satisfy your sweet tooth for dessert. The first is Rio’s Barbacoa #14, also on Highway 90 just down the road from Heavy’s and right in the heart of Hondo. What this restaurant lacks in variety they make up for in quality. As the name suggests, their speciality is barbacoa, along with freshly-made tamales, menudo, chicharrones, and carnitas. And don’t skip on the fresh tortillas! If you like south-of-the-border style BBQ, this is a must-see. Grab some barbacoa, fresh tortillas, and a king size Big Red to-go, and you’ll want to come back tomorrow. Bill Miller BBQ The next name on our list is a Texas institution. Bill Miller BBQ has been serving up hot smoked meats and delicious sides all over Texas since they opened their first restaurant in San Antonio in 1950, and the Hondo location on Highway 90 is not to be missed. Opened by William T. and Ila Faye Miller with a $500 loan, what started as a family business has become a true Texas landmark. Along with the traditional favorites, Bill Miller also serves breakfast tacos, sandwiches, fried chicken, and even provides fully-catered holiday meals. Don’t miss out on the freshly-baked pies!
