Mustang – Bullitt
The 1968 Mustang GT Fastback driven by the title character is one that arguably pushed the model to iconic status. The Mustang is featured in what many film historians consider to be one of the best car chase sequences in film history, a ten-minute extravaganza of vehicular stunt work set in the hilly streets of San Francisco. Honorable mentions for the Mustang include the 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 from Diamonds Are Forever and the 1971 Mustang Sportsroof from the original 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds.
Econoline Van – Scooby-Doo 1 & 2
A customized version of the Ford Econoline appears as the famous Mystery Machine in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. The Mystery Machine is one of the most recognizable vans in animation history, carrying Mystery Inc. around on their never-ending quest to unmask the villain and eat Scooby Snacks. Another notable Econoline with more “extensive modifications” is the “Mutt Cutts” van from Dumb & Dumber.
GT40 – Ford vs. Ferrari
A recent entry to Ford’s cinematic history focuses on Ford’s own history at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in the 1960s. Their string of wins in the late 60’s came with the development of the GT40, which beat the heavily-favored entries from Ferrari. The modern incarnation of the GT40 is still around today as the Ford GT.
